RADICA tackles biofilms in the Journal of Hospital Infection

The application of the RADICA™ system for the removal of biofilm was recently published and is continuing to acquire citations from related journals in the biochemical space. The paper demonstrates the efficacy of the system at tackling HCAI’s, specifically Staphylococcus epidermidis and meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

It was shown that gaseous plasma is an efficient method for the disinfection of biofilms even when the target area is some distance from the plasma source. This factor is important when taking into account the applications in the food industry where the decontamination area is large.

Dr. Gurusharan Singh Gogna, R & D Technologist at Arann Healthcare recently presented the newly launched RADICA EC200 at the NanoNet forum in Dublin.

The NanoNet Ireland Showcase enabled participants to outline their company profiles to enable other conference participants establish follow-up engagements at the conference or in advance of Horizon 2020.

The NanoNet Ireland Showcase was organised by CCAN on behalf of NanoNet Ireland.

The newly launched RADICA EC200 has applications in Healthcare and Food Production facilities. The system delivers an eco-friendly environmental deep cleaning from the hazards of moulds and bacteria thereby reducing the incidences of cross contamination.

Clinical Trial Results from the HRB Clinical Research Facility in Cork

Our recently completed clinical trial at the HRB Clinical Research Facility in Cork proved yet again the potency of the RADICA product in reducing the levels of bacteria on healthcare mattresses. By regularly using the RADICA system, hospitals and nursing homes have the potential opportunity to reduce the incidences of patients contracting a potentially lethal infection.

Preliminary data from Prof. Joe Eustace

” In preliminary studies conducted in the HRB Clinical Research Facility-Cork, under the auspices of the Health Innovation Hub demonstration project, the use of RADICA -as compared to standard therapy- to disinfect hospital mattresses resulted in a significantly lower number of sites per mattress with residual bacterial colonization, and a significantly lower maximal and median colony count per mattress*. ”

Hospital trials commencing in HRB Clinical Research Facility in Cork

Arann Healthcare will be conducting a trial of the RADICA Disinfection System at the HRB Clinical Research Facility in Cork from March 4th to March 15th. The trial is being run under the Healthcare Innovation Hub initiative in cooperation with the HRB Clinical Research Facility at UCC and the Mercy University Hospital.
